Songs on Duck Feet Waddling

(NeidFyre)
2002
all songs traditional unless otherwise noted
Here We Go a Waddling (MGS) Here we go a waddling all with our webbed feet
In any kind of weather, rain or snow or sleet!

Chorus: Webbed feet come to you,
And to you a waddle to
And duck legs waddle all around you

Waddling is all the rage you'll see it on the streets!
All the duckies do it, with their webbed feets!

Chorus

We waddle here, we waddle there,
We waddle everywhere! Come and waddle with us, waddle if you dare. . .

Chorus

I've come to the end of my very silly song!
So now I'm off a waddling, won't you come along?

Maid on the Shore There is a young maiden, who lives all alone
She lives all alone on the shore-o
There's nothin' she can find to comfort her mind,
But to roam all alone on the shore, shore shore
But to roam all alone on the shore.

There is a young captain who sails the salt seas,
Let the wind blow high, blow low-o
I will die, I will die the young captain did cry,
If I don't have that maid on the shore, shore shore
If I don't have that maid on the shore.

I have lots of silver, I have lots of gold
I have lots of costly ware-0
I'll divide, I'll divide with my jolly ship's crew
If they row me that maid on the shore, shore shore
If they row me that maid on the shore.

After much persuasion they brought her aboard
Let the wind blow high, blow low-o
They replaced her away in his cabin below
Here's a due to all sorrow and care, care, care
Here's a due to all sorrow and care.

He replaced her away in his cabin below,
Let the wind blow high blow low-o
She's so pretty and neat, She's so sweet and complete
She sung captain and sailor to sleep, sleep, sleep
She sung captain and sailor to sleep.

Then she robbed him of silver, she robbed him of gold
She robbed him of costly ware-o
Then took his broad sword instead of an oar
And paddled her way to the shore, shore shore
And paddled her way to the shore!

Well me men must be crazy, me men must be mad!
Me men must be deep in despair-o
For to let you away from my cabin so gay,
And to paddle your way to the shore, shore, shore
And to paddle your way to the shore.

No your men was no' crazy, your men was no' mad
Your men was no' deep in despair-o
I deluded your sailors as well as yourself. . .
I'm a maiden again on the shore, shore, shore
I'm a maiden again on the shore.

Well is a young maiden, who lives all alone
She lives all alone on the shore-o
There's nothin' she can find to comfort her mind,
But to roam all alone on the shore, shore shore
But to roam all alone on the shore.

Hey Ho Rounded (trad, additional lyrics MGS) Hey, ho, nobody home
Meat nor drink nor money have I none
Yet I will be merry
Hey, ho, nobody's home.

Rose, Rose, Rose Red,
Will I ever see thee wed?
I will marry at thy will, sire.
At thy will.

Splinters Corners,
All our family rhyming in song
We invite you to sing along,
Come sing along

Hey, ho, nobody home
Meat nor drink nor money have I none
Yet I will be merry
Hey, ho, nobody's home.

Johnny Well, Johnny be fair and Johnny be fine and wants me for to wed
And I would marry Johnny, but my father up and said
I'm sad to tell you daughter but that will never do,
For Johnny is a son of mine and so he's kin to you

Now, Jimmy be fair and Jimmy be fine and wants me for to wed
And I would marry Jimmy, but my father up and said
I'm sad to tell you daughter but that will never do,
For Jimmy, too, is a son of mine and so he's kin to you

Well, Billy be fair and Billy be fine and wants me for to wed
And I would marry Billy, but my father up and said
I'm sad to tell you daughter but that will never do,
For Billy, too, is a son of mine and so he's kin to you

You never seen a girl so angry as I was
The boys in town are all related and me father is the cause!
If this continue in this way, I'll die a single miss
I'd better go to mother and see what she says of this!

Now daughter, haven't I taught you to forgive and to forget
Even if your father sowed his oats, well still you needn't fret!
Your father may be father unto all the boys but still. . .
He's not the one who sired you, so marry who you will!

All Around My Hat Chorus: All around my hat I will wear the green willow
All around my hat, for a twelve-month and a day
And if anyone should ask me the reason why I'm wearing it,
It's all for my true love who's far, far away

Fare thee well cold winter and fare thee well cold frost
For nothing have I gained but my own true love I've lost
I'll sing and I'll be merry when occasion I do see
He's a false deluded young man, let him go farewell he.

Chorus:

The other day he brought me a fine diamond ring
But he thought to have deprived me of a far finer thing
But I being careful, like true lovers ought to be
He's a false deluded young man, let him go farewell he

Chorus:

Here's a half a pound of reason, and a half pound of sense
A small sprig of time and as much of prudence
Mix them all together, and you will plainly see
He's a false deluded young man, let him go farewell he!

Angus (Lolly Foy) Well, Angus was a happy lad, for soon he would be wed.
He'd found a brisk and bonnie lass to take him to his bed.
And happier still his mother was that he had found a wife,
For, truth be told, she'd often feared she'd be stuck with him for life.

Chorus: It's a fine thing, a bonnie thing, the grandest ever seen.
(Repeat last line of verse)

In honor of the grand affair that wedding day would be,
She set about to weave a kilt, the finest ever seen.
The night before the wedding, when the kilt was finally done,
She called young Angus over and she tried it on her son.

Chorus

She wound the kilt about him and she wound, and wound, and wound,
And when she finished winding, it was still eight yards too long.
"Never fear, my bonnie boy. We'll simply cut it off,
And to your blushin' bride we'll give the extra length of cloth."

Chorus

Now Angus was so pleased, y'know, his heart had swelled with pride.
He felt that he must rush right out and show it to his bride.
'Twas raining, so he grabbed a cloak to shield him on the moor,
But in his haste to be away his kilt slammed in the door.

Chorus

Well, Angus was in such a rush to show off for his bride,
He never really noticed that he had left his kilt behind.
He knocked upon her door and cried, "Oh, let me in, I pray!
I've something that you've got to see before our wedding day."

Chorus

Now, Bridget let him in, y'know, but said, "Ye cannot stay.
For I've got to have my beauty sleep before our wedding day."
"I'll only be a moment, love, but it's so grand, my dear,
Ye've really got to see what I'm a-hiding under here."

Chorus

Now, when the cloak was thrown aside and Angus stood quite bare,
We must admit she was impressed and tried hard not to stare.
"Oh, love, I'll ne'er see finer, though far and far I roam!"
"Well, lass," he cried, "that's nothing!
I've got eight more yards at home!"

Peggy Ramsey Bonny Peggy Ramsay that any man may see;
And bonny was her face with fair freckl'd eye;
Neat is her body made and she hath good skill,
And round are her bonny arms that work well at the mill.

Chorus: With a hey tro-lo-del, hey tro-lo-del,
Hey tro-lo-del, lil;
Bonny Peggy Ramsay that works well at the mill. (2x)

Up goes the hopper and in goes the corn
The wheel it goes about and the stones begin to turn.
The meal falls in the meal-trough and quickly does it fill
For Peggy is a bonny lass and works well at the mill

Chorus: (2x)

Band o'Shearers Summer days and heather bells
Come bloomin o'er yon high high hills
There's yellow corn in all' the fields
And the autumn brings the shearin'

Chorus: Bonnie lassie, will ye gang
And shear with' me the whole day lang?
And love will cheer us as we gang
And we'll join yon band o' shearers

And if the weather be too hot
I'll doff my cravat and my cloak
And shear with ye among the lot,
And we'll join yon band o' shearers.

Chorus:

And if the thistle be ower strang
An' one should pierce your lily, white hand
I'll take my hook and cut it down
And we'll join yon band o' shearers.

Chorus

An' when the shearin' it is done
As yonder sets the evenin' sun
We'll hae some roaring, rantin' fun
And we'll gang nae mair tae the shearin'

Young Emily Young Emily was a pretty fair maid, she loved the driver boy!
Who drove the stage, some go to take,
Down in the lowlands low, my love,
Down in the lowlands low.

My father keeps a boarding house
Down by the river deep
Go there, go there and enter in,
This night abide with me my love,
This night abide with me.

Be sure you tell them nothin', don't even let them know
That your name it is Young Edmond,
Who drives in the lowlands low my love,
Who drives in the lowlands low.

Young Edmond he did shiver, he left fair Emily's bed.
Her father and brothers lay in wait,
And stabbed young Edmond dead, my love
Oh they stabbed young Edmond dead.

They took him down to the riverside,
Young Edmond he did bleed.
They threw him in the ragin' tide,
To hide their evil deed my love,
To hid their evil deed.

Young Emily in her chamber, she had an awful dream;
She dreamed she saw her true love,
Go flowing like the stream, my love,
Go flowin' like a stream.

O father, my dear father, You will die a public show!
For the killin' of the driver boy,
Who drove in the lowlands, low my love,
Who drove in the lowlands low.

The fish that swim in the ocean
Swims o'er my true loves breast
His body lies in a gentle motion,
And I hope his soul's at rest, my love,
I hope his soul's at rest.

The Shoemaker My Johnny was a shoemaker and dearly he loved me
My Johnny was a shoemaker but now he's gone to sea
With pitch and tar to soil his hands
And to sail across the sea, stormy sea
And sail across the stormy sea

His jacket was a deep sky blue and curly was his hair
His jacket was a deep sky blue, it was, I do declare
For to reive the topsails up against the mast
And to sail across the sea, stormy sea
And sail across the stormy sea

Some day he'll be a captain bold with a brave and a gallant crew
Some day he'll be a captain bold with a sword and spyglass too
And when he has a gallant captain's sword
He'll come home and marry me, marry me
He'll come home and marry me

Auld Lang Syne (Gary Izzo & Doug Kondziolka) Should auld acquaintance be forgot,
And never brought to mind?
Should auld acquaintance be forgot,
And days of auld lang syne!

Chorus: For auld lang syne, my dear,
For auld lang syne,
We'll tak a cup o' kindness yet,
For auld lang syne.

And surely ye'1l be your pint stop!
And surely I'll be mine!
And we'll take a cup o' kindness yet,
For auld lang syne.

Chorus

And there's a hand, my trusty friend!
And here's a hand o'thine!
And we'll take a right good willie waught,
For auld lang syne.

Chorus

And raise a cup to Warwickshire,
Where fellowship we find!
And though we traverse wide the world,
Our hearts remain behind
