Lesson Policies

()
Commitments and Contracts When someone becomes a student of mine they sign a contract. The point of this contract is to insure the student understands what kind of a commitment taking lessons is.

Committing to weekly lessons means that the student has a standing appointment with me. It may be beautiful out, work may have been a bear, there may have been tests, or perhaps the student didn't have time to practice. The fact of the matter is that there is still a lesson scheduled. If the student should choose not to show up for their lesson at the appointed time they will end up paying for it. Not only will it slow the student’s progress, but the student will still have to pay for the missed lesson.

Canceling vs. Rescheduling Missing lessons happen. Life is Life - things come up. However, lessons are not canceled. Calling and saying "I just can't make it" means the student still needs to pay for their lesson. Lessons must sometimes be postponed, and I will do my best to be as flexible as possible for the make-up lesson.

24-hour notice should be given on all postponements. If the student postpones a lesson and fails to give 24-hour notice they will still have to pay for that lesson.

Emergencies happen, and they can be accommodated. This is Ithaca, and weather can be an issue. A student will not have to pay for a lesson if 24-hour notice is not given due to weather.
